Data Palette supports a multi-tiered architecture, which can be implemented within a standalone data center environment, or across a geographically dispersed infrastructure, complete with redundancy and fail over capabilities integrated within the data center and database automation platform.
The Data Palette architecture consists of:
Nerve Center
The Nerve Center is the browser-based user interface for Data Palette, the only automation platform of its kind to provide a single, fully integrated web-based client. The Nerve Center connects IT Admins with the Expert Engine, and provides a complete and integrated view of the network, hardware, storage, Operating System (OS), and database environments throughout the enterprise. It also provides access to the SOP development environment used to create and deploy SOPs.
Mobile Nerve Center
The Mobile Client enables data center managers to connect with the Expert Engine and manage the data environment from their PDAs or cellular phones. Features include ticket assignment, statistical trend monitoring, and execution of workflow automation.
Expert Engine
The Expert Engine is the core of Data Palette™ that drives database automation around best practices. Data Palette’s integrated analytical platform, its Expert Engine, comes equipped with pre-built DBA subject-matter expertise, and an extensive knowledge base. It anticipates bottlenecks and sources of failure, and proactively invokes SOP automation code that maintain normal operation without administrator intervention (or alerts admins to take appropriate action).
Collectors
The Collector is a lightweight software module that collects information from the target machines. It collects key performance indicators and sends them to the Expert Engine. It also runs the SOP automation code submitted by the Expert Engine. Collectors are low-footprint and low-overhead components; they have negligible impact on system performance. All communications between the Expert Engine and a Collector are secure, and can optionally be encrypted.
Repository
The Repository is the knowledgebase used by the Expert Engine to track data historically and provide extensive information that drives more insightful reporting. Each customer’s Data Palette server is contained within its own firewall and located at the customer’s site. Your company’s data is secure and accessible only to those authorized to see it and, if permissions allow, manipulate it. You determine users and their levels of security.
